Uncharted Safaris 2025-2026
Our Core Wildlife Expedition: Multiple departures April- November
In 2025-2026, Transoxiana Outfitters will lead a series of 14-day small-group wildlife safaris through the high Pamirs of southeastern Tajikistan.
While each expedition is tailored to seasonal conditions and wildlife movement, our routes traverse protected reserves such as Zorkul, Khargush, and adjacent highland corridors—offering unparalleled opportunities to observe species like the Marco Polo sheep, Mid-Asian ibex, Tibetian Brown Bear, Pallas’s cat, and signs of the elusive snow leopard.
These safaris are more than observation—they're participatory conservation expeditions. Guests assist in camera trap deployment, wildlife sign documentation, and engage with local communities whose ecological knowledge shapes our work in the field.
Highlights of Your Expedition
• Track Marco Polo sheep, ibex, and predators across remote ridgelines with the guidance of expert field trackers
• Participate in wildlife sign logging and help maintain remote camera traps for long-term conservation data
• Navigate surreal high-alpine terrain by 4x4, horseback, and on foot—adapting to snow, wind, and wildlife movement
• Collaborate with Wakhi naturalists and herders to gain firsthand insight into traditional ecological knowledge
• Disconnect completely—trade cell service for silence, stars, and stories around the stove
• Experience rugged hospitality, hot meals, and the camaraderie of those who earn every summit and sighting
